Puerto Nuevo-Style Lobster, Right Here in Hillcrest
The Ortega family was among the first to cook Puerto Nuevo’s famous grilled lobster, back in the 1950s. That same coastal Baja cooking is on the table at Third and University: lobster with rice, beans and handmade tortillas, guacamole made tableside, and our signature pomegranate margarita.

Holiday parties, rehearsal dinners, birthdays and team dinners. Pick one of our three private spaces, tell us your date and headcount, and our events team will reply within one business day with availability, menus and pricing.
- Veranda: private second floor with exposed brick and its own restrooms, up to 60 guests
- Galeria & Cantina: full bar and fireplace for cocktail parties, up to 60 guests
- Bistro: opens to the patio and kitchen, up to 75 guests

We’re at 141 University Ave, San Diego, CA 92103, in the heart of Hillcrest.
Metered street parking runs along University Avenue and the surrounding streets, and there are paid lots and garages a short walk away. Several MTS bus routes stop on University, and rideshare drop-off is easy right at the corner.
